So about a month ago i just bought some ginseng microcarpa ficus since we was gonna throw them away at work due too leaf drop.. costed me a dollar a piece :D

So i cutted of the top of one of them to take some cuttings.. these cuttings did not root (i dont have the privilige of using rooting hormones in norway)

But! 4 weeks after i cutted the top of this is whats left

LOTS of shoots and a heaven to take cuttings from :D

And i chopped another one as well.. this one had allready lost most of its leaves so im just cutting the whole top of.. and i cut it off from the tubers..

It had no leaves, no shoots and no roots... it was like a cigar but that i putted in the soil..

And! 4 weeks after..

It has rooted and a shoot is coming.. i am very surprised about this since i was under the impression that a cutting MUST have shoots or leaves?

Anyway i now have a great trunk size for a little shohin when i lift up the roots in a year or two :)

Thank you Microcarpa :D

It's my understanding that as long as a plant has enough carbohydrates built up it doesn't need foliage or any roots to regrow it. I think the one you've got cut away from the tubers will end up looking better than the other in the end. Gotta let that shoot (and any others that pop out) grow out a long time though before cutting it back.

Only reason i bought those plants was to take cuttings from them :) so the one with tubers will be mother plant for that.. i dont know why but i havent found one place in norway they sell microcarpa or any other sort of ficus then benjamina and ginseng ficus :/
