Anyone have any experience or ever witness this species used in bonsai? Any info or thoughts would be helpful.

I've played with some Nellie R. Stevens Holly which is fairly similar.

The wood of Nellie R. is extremely brittle. If you can get one with a large and interesting trunk it can make a nice bonsai. I was able to root prune and top prune it heavily and it never lost a beat.

I wouldn't mess with a small one. But if you find a really old one I would definitely work on it.
