On one listing they clearly just stole a picture of a totally different tree...

I'm not aware of international shipping standards. How do you know they are importing illegally?

I can recall seeing a add with a Hinko cypress from japan also nice tree but I
knew something was not right. SHIPPING FROM JAPAN DIRECT...

Step 3. look at the background of the photos *hint (it's the same......)
Step 4. scratch head.....oh shit it's not legal to import maples.....

How do you know they are illegal trees? In one post the guy said " I bought it 15 years ago from a Bonsia importer" and another said " I have repotted it every year" could these have been legally imported years ago

I think that the initial poster of this thread might be onto something...
for if you read the following which is from the seller's site:

I received a lot of emails, thanks a lot. As you know, we

Japan, so the bonsais don't pass through the customs. But I will be able to send
