I've read from many sources that this is an excellent nursery with many great tree's. I called Jim today and made sure that there going to be open when I come up. The Nursery is about 1 1/2 drive from me down here in West palm Beach. I'm looking in to adding a decent sized Ficus, Microcarpa, Bayan style to my collection. I'll keep you posted of my findings :D

I think you will be happy, if you can take approx 200 with you you can leave there with a killer tree. Heck I got a pretty good one for half that even.

I Enjoyed my trip up to the nursery and found a nice prebonsai that I'm going to create in to a banyan style ficus. This is the place to go as there are so many nice prebonsai trees to choose from at good prices. I checked out Jim's collection and he has some very nice trees.:D

I'm going towards the end of the month and I can't wait. Any pics of what you picked up (or the nursery)?

Do you have any Pictures?

Here are a few... I find that in the 2 times that I've been there I've been too preoccupied to remember to take good pics...

more... boy, I really didn't take many pics, and especially of the really cool stuff...

there are quite a few bare stands. Jim recently donated 100 or so of his best trees to the Heathcote Botanical Gardens... http://www.heathcotebotanicalgardens.org/. Hopefully I'll be able to make it to the gardens soon to check out the collection.

DEFINITELY go on the 4th Sunday of the month. They have a free workshop from 10-3. Basically you bring your trees or pick up one (or more). Jim is then there to help you out and to guide you along towards a successful starting point. One of the more experienced guys there walked around the nursery with me and helped pick out a Ficus microcarpa 'Retusa'. We then took it back to the workshop area and heavily cut it back to the starting point for a rather large banyan style ficus, it'll be around 22" tall x 44" wide or so. It's a 1.5 hour drive for me, but I'll be going back monthly for sure. Next month I'll be taking my raintree (also from Jim's nursery) along for some guidance from the master.

wow free that's awesome. Makes up for the drive. google maps says just over 2 hours for me. Are they open before 10am on that sunday for those who want to pick something from their stock? Hopefully I can make it in June.

I think they're there at 10am (give them a call and see if they'll be there earlier). It's not a structured workshop, so you can walk around and pick out your material anytime. After you pick it out you take it back to the area and Jim (and others) are there to offer advice and help you out. I spent a lot of time looking for my material and also spent a good deal of time watching others work on their trees.
