This is such a great thread @cmeg1 So much info, pics, details etc....

For the past few years I've started various species from seed over winter indoors to get a head start on their first growing season. For fun and something to do during the winter down time. I've done Tridents, J. Maples and Black pines.

I think you've inspired me to try Zelkova this year. Thanks!

You might try cuttings like I am doing in my most current zelkova thread

Let's see whether you have soething new to show us on those 4 @cmeg1 Or did you stop working these when you had to take a bit of time away from bonsai?

Sometimes I look back at this thread and compare it to,perhaps a musician who’s made many albums. The early ones can be good, some not so good.
This thread to me is like an early album where I believe the new ones get better.
I have learned a lot more about Zelkova since this thread.
Thanks for following though...I definately had the enthusiasm and still very much do.
To answer your question.....I had to completly start from scratch in my most current thread.

Would have loved to see how they turned out.
One was rescued by a freind after I neglected it.
He saved it from the woods where I planted it and is growing it now
Im glad he did.
Here’s a photo from a couple weeks ago :D

This is a *really* nice setup. Love the seemingly simple layout of the canopy. To me this breathes bonsai, and this is set on course for a fine tree, imho. (He should take a look at the nebari though :D:p)
