For my newly acquired red chojubai. I'm having no luck finding it locally, and while we have excellent local potters, this type of work is NOT their forte'.

So I thought if i pictured what I'd like anyone who has seen something like this around might let me know where :)

I see those kind of pots on ebay. I just don't know the reputation of the makers.

Dick, I really like your Chojubai! So I'd suggest taking your time when looking, however it's really fun to look for pots for your trees, so no harm there:) I'd suggest an older Japanese or Chinese pot

Here's some good resources, you can contact the sellers and tell them what you are looking for:

I've purchased from all these places except Japanese Bonsai Pots.net, and they were great.

Dick,
I personally, am beginning to expand my painting biz...
and I am considering starting to actually painting pots
such as the ones you have posted...

The problem being two fold... finding pots with a price
tag that I can then work on and make some money as well...
Which leads to the second... trying to keep the price affordable.

Sorry, to hijack your thread... but, I think there would be an
interest, what do you think ??? And second, if I am not getting
to personal, if so, obviously please don't answer...
What type of target price would you expect to pay for such a
pot as in your pics ???

Just trying to figue out if it would be worth it progressing into
this type of area, cause I know it is a limited field here in
America, and a neich that needs filling...
Thanks
:)
Obviously you could PM me if you don't want to put it up here...
Also, I have a Chuck Iker pot that I recently painted... will post
soon.

Dick,
here is the real thing...

http://bonsai.ocnk.net/product-list/18

Saw,

Painting ceramics is fun Ive been doing it for years. It is very hard to get good at though, but if you are really good with a brush you can colaborate with a local potter to supply you with bisqueware, and do your thing and let someone else do the heavy work.

If I lived closer I would love such a partnership, because my brushwork is just above the caveman

BigDave,
The real thing? Really? Drop me a line sometime, that's nothing more than the English language website of Yoshoen, whose Japanese site boasts "the real thing", but certainly not that one, it has literally 1% of of what Yoshoen had for sale, really just stuff Rie-San thinks will appeal to the western market.
As Dick knows, and I've clarified, these pots are Takao Koyo. He's really just starting out doing painted pieces(less than 5 years)! Although he's been A pro potter for decades. I have an upcoming post in works for him. You can view his work, and order
It, on the Koju en website, I reccomend a gander!

You missed it by a month. Someone was selling exactly what you wanted on eBay in sets of like 6 pots for super cheap.
