I had a intro thread earlier, but no one has replied, so I'll post a new thread specifically about my tree.
It is a Willow Leaf Ficus prebonsai, I remember reading it was five years old. If I were to call it a tree as is (my first and only tree, has had no work done and was recieved yesterday) it would be a broom style. It has a unhealed scare on one side. The majority of its branches come from the same spot as other branches, having up to four in the same spot. It has three surface roots, one almost the size of its 3/4 inch trunk. The other two are about half as large as the trunk. The problem is, the nebari is widest where there is a small branch sticking out the middle of the tree, and there are no back branches, it seems flat. Each leaf is an inch long (some defoliation should fix that) and all leaves are at the ends of the branches. I dont plan on working on it until it is the right time of year and the tree has recovered from shipping, but i need to know if you are able to make new leaves grow where there are no buds?
Also: I am prone to personifying inanimate objects, and bonsai trees are no exception. They are either happy, well loved and taken care of, or poor plants that are tortured often with defoliation, repotting, and pruning

Then you would find my back yard to be a little shop of horrors with many a tortured tree. Please post pics. It really helps with people given you feedback.

Sorry about that. I said it wrong. I meant no one replied to my talking about the tree, I figure it was because i waited a week for my new post, so i made a new tread about it. People did reply to my intro thread, id better clear that up now.

No worries, there are a few things you can do to help us all help you and it will only take a few minutes of your time. :D
Update your profile so we have a clue as to your growing zone and location - and then post a detailed question. Even one picture would help us all help you and many here are willing.
Welcome to B-Nut!

Yes, but only if it's healthy and you give it a trim. It has to be healthy and actively growing though. Can you post pictures??

I am on mytablet as of now, but i hope to post pictures soon. As of now, the ficus was shipped here days ago, so it wil be a while before i do any work on it

Irbyma I did not see your other post, sorry! Ficus really have no off season for growth, I just did a sh** load of work on mine two weeks ago and its all recovered and growing here in Ohio mid November. I do have it under a fluorescent grow light and another 40 watt bulb just for good measure along with my other tropicals and my Catlins and Chinese Elms. As a matter of fact my Bougie was defoliated at the same time and its sprouted all new growth, that's what I love about tropical, no down time especially the Ficus. It does have to be healthy though. If you are interested Redwood Ryan has some great indoor growing setups check out his threads here. there is also a guy Jerry Meislik ? "spelling?" look him up online as he is all about Ficus and indoor growth. You really need look no further than Redwood Ryan as he is really good at what he does too. Good luck weirdo ;)

I love torturing my trees and knowing I can get every sensory nerve to fire up at my will... oh wait plants don't have sensory nervous system...I guess I've been wasting my time ;)

Lol... why has no one replied to the pampering part? I guess you prefer to say you torture you plants XP

Sorry Irbyma, I also missed your intro thread.

And some rather large trees in large pots. Many of us consider a chainsaw and a sawzall Bonsai Tools and use Hydraulic Carts to move them about :p

Personally, I'd just let this tree grow wild until spring/summer. Now isn't the best time to do work to it of any kind.

I dont plan to do anything until then.
Did i post a picture of the tree's woun
d? Someone cut a the top off and let it grow out, but the stump seems to not have healed very well.
If i were to trim this tree during spring/summer,it is possible for leaves to appear where there are no buds?
