Is anyone here in the Inland Empire Bonsai Society that meets in Riverside, California? I thought about checking that club out last weekend, but I can't find anything recent that confirms when and where (or even if) they meet. There are a couple of places where I saw club information saying they meet at the Botanic Gardens Conference Room, UC Riverside, 2nd Sun. except July and Aug. at 1:00 to 4:00 PM, but both listings had phone numbers that were disconnected, and I don't see a website. Since it's a bit of a long drive for me, I decided not to go unless I could confirm that this group still meets then and there. Couldn't do it. So I thought I'd inquire here.

I know there are a lot of folks from So Cal here. Are any of you in that club?

Sorry brother...I'm close to the beach. Besides, I don't belong to any anyway:). Can't hurt checking it out though... Good luck
Best,
Jonathan

Did you try google? They have a Web site

What is their website?

I found a club with the same name in Spokane. Can't find information about the club in the Inland Empire here in So Cal.

I am not familiar with them. To be honest, I've never heard of them before - even when the GSBF is having their convention in Riverside.

They are not listed on the GSBF site as being a member...

I hadn't check GSBF's club list in a while. If they aren't there, they are probably defunct. I think my question is answered.

There is a group in Chino (or Chino Hills?) near there. They meet at David Nguy's house.

Thanks Si for reminding me this new club!

I encourage whoever likes to advance the wiring skills and branch styling which is Mr. David Nguy' s expertise, should attend this club. Actually you do not need to bring your own tree to the workshop. Mr. Nguy has lot of JBP in training for you to play with!

If they had a bonsai show could you call it the Chino Invitational? I suppose you can set up a club for what ever purpose you desire but a bonsai club????

He's the guy I heard it from....So I think I'm still a little too novice to warrant an invitation.

Nobody is so new that they should not be welcomed into our community with open arms. There are several people on here that have progressed amazingly fast. Being around people that are good at this will only help you! Bonhe is a very knowledgeable person I would accept any help you can get.

Like Milehigh 7 said, novice should not be a barrier! I know the fact that to be accepted to the bonsai class of Japanese bonsai masters such as Mr. Kimura, Mr. Suzuki, etc. is not easy at all. I heard that if you don't have recommendation letter, you can not get in!

I was not in your shoes, so I don't know how much bonsai knowledge you have. Few years ago, I had an opportunity to be a student of Mr. Nguy. At that time, he did not create the club yet. I was accepted via my friend 's introduction. Even though with a short course of training in 2 months, my skills obviously jumped up high. Mr. Nguy is one of great bonsai artists in California in my opinion. I had to quit coming to his nursery because it is little to far for me!

Any way, my offer is still here for you. ;-)
