This will be the first winter my Japanese Maples will be in 100% inorganic soil. They have been fertilized during spring and summer. I know its good to not fert them during fall and winter, but does this still apply when using 100% inorganic soil?. Doesnt the plant still need nutrience during dormancy? My mix is 1/1/1 lava, akadama, pumice.
Thanks

If a plant doesn't grow it doesn't need nutrients.

Its nice to have mineral……just water every watering with a 5:2 ratio of humic acid powder & kelp powder…..NPK BRAND OR KALIX BRAND.
There is lots more going on in root surface than meets the eye.
