I found some images from earlier this year that I thought that I might post. This trees are found in Yosemite National Park at an elevation between nine and eleven thousand feet above sea level.

Thanks for sharing these Barry. The second tree had me saying, how the hell.....
Nature is truly amazing.

WOW! To bad you can't collect there.:D

I can relate to these pictures. The single most inspiring thing I've ever seen regarding the art of Bonsai came while climbing Mt. Washington in New Hampshire, many years ago.
As you get to the edge of the tree on that mountain the trees become progressively smaller until just before the top they are only knee high to thigh high in height and very weathered with much natural "Jin".
It is a very difficult existance up there and it shows in those trees.
I have slides of them but have no idea how to convert them digitally in order to post here.

Since things seem to be a little slow, I thought I would share a veiw of one of my "study" trees. When I'm at Telperion, I see this tree every day. The shots are from Chris Kirk.

Some more of those wonderful Olmsted Point trees. This is my MOST favorite place in Yosemite.

The view behind my exuberant daughter is what made Olmsted Point famous. Most everyone is at the parking area looking down at the valley. I cross the road and climb up the rock behind the view point. That is where some of the best trees are. The view is also superior there. All of those trees are within a few acres of each other.

A couple of trees (which of course, look better than the photos) of an oak and a cypress with some nice exposed roots. Thees trees are located in the Big Sur region of California.
