Im looking to improve my irrigation system; before I was doing overhead irrigating with a fan sprinkler. It would go off twice a day in the warm part of season and it worked alright other than the fact it always left my grass drenched and overwatered and the midday timing sucks for using the yard. I moved my trees to a better spot on the other side of my property on a bench. I’m looking to set them up on micro irrigation. Thinking either micro soaker hose, micro drip emitters or the spray emitters. Any suggestions on what you all prefer and maybe a kit?

My setup:

Interesting set up that looks like it works well. I could easily build similar with probably only a few emitters. My downside is I need to run off a regular spigot with a timer.

Glad you made this thread, made me do some more googling. Thinking something like this may be viable for myself at least:

Hook it up to a nozzle and a timer and it seems like it should get the job done and doesn't seem like it'd be that hard... 🤔

That's what I've done. Works fine. I'd stay away from drip emitters. With coarse soils the water travels straight down and doesn't soak the whole pot.

Yeah I was worried about that with the drip.

im actually leaning toward these

Here’s what I’m leaning towards. A lot of stuff I don’t need though but it has the 180* emitters. The bench is on a fence line and I don’t want overspray into the neighbors property.

I refer it all to micro irrigation. Those look to be small 1/8” hoses coming off the 1/2” hose with the emitters attached to risers. Those look like they snap in but there is other styles.

I’m just starting with my system . Read several books . And searched a fair bit . My first system like you will run off a faucet . Going to be a misting micro system . Sole purpose is Yamadori recovery area and repotting recovery area . For watering trees . What seems best is so called bubblers . Used heavily in the nursery potted industry . It’s a adjustable emetter head that when on just like it’s name bubbles water out the top at low pressure will cover up to a 1 ft/square area each adjustable micro can flow 1 to 20 gallons a hour . Very reliable hard to plug up from large flow area can easily be used to soak a pot quickly and not get the foliage wet seem perfect header pipe . Micro pipe . Both cheap . Bubblers or adjustable misters under 8 bucks for 5 pack connect to a hose battery operated tinier under 50 bucks at the wall just going to plumb some of the new portable benches I’m building . So can move from shade to sun garden hose just moves with the bench simple
