I have a 20" tall Trident Maple pre-bonsai tree and it sits on a roofless balcony that is north facing so it gets sun from about 8ish AM to around 11:30-12:00PM. My question is, will this be enough direct sunlight? I know what google says, but curious if anyone else has been in a similar situation.

My tridents get 4-5 hours of mid day sun here in N GA and grow vigorously. Your exposure may not be ideal but I bet your trees will still grow well.

Early spring image waking up...my own gets morning sun. I feel with hand watering...I can manage it's overall health in that sun range then later in the day. Especially with the pot being shallower than most I own.

Agree with Dave...you will still good growth. I do feel fall colors may be less. But you still get them.

I'd say yes, acquired a large field grown trident in April, already leafed out obviously.
It's been so ridiculously hot here I've had it in full shade under a landscape magnolia ever since.
Nice green small leaves and put on lots of new growth.
