Is it alright to ask?

I've yet to give back so I'm not sure I feel right about asking this but here goes:

I got these little sargents and I use them for practice. They are cheap and readily available so I don't feel bad when I mess up. In the interim, I get better at wiring and "finding the tree within the shrub" as Graham Potter has said. So, tonight I have some free time and this guy came off the bench.

Caveats: I'm new. I'm open. I've been wrong in the past. I'll be wrong in the future. I'm very appreciative.

So here it is. Fairly dainty trunk that I hope will thicken over 5 years. I oriented, angled and chose the following front. I don't think this one lends itself to more than one front.

edit: grouper is right

Is this pretty much destined to be a cascade or is there another option you can see? I'm having a hard time getting started. Can you see this tree better than I? If so, would you mind sharing?

Never be afraid to ask. I'm sure that one of our experts will glady give you advise.

I don't see what you are asking - there is no question except whether it is alright to ask. What's your question? :)

It does make a nice looking cascade though. I would bet you could use one of those half moon looking bowls and stand it up, where it looks like it it had fallen over in the past and then grew up towards the sun.
This is a terrible virtual of what I am talking about, I dont know what they call these bowls, but I bet this would be an option for this tree.

You could change the planting angle and wire it into a sinuous form. You could go with the cascade that seems to be naturally there. I would just work on that growth for now, and see what the time brings to your eye. Your eye will mature as you see more and more bonsai, sometimes it's better to wait, than to push an immature eye's vision onto a tree... (written with first hand knowledge...:o)

Ed, that's called a crescent pot.

It's seems more and more people have told me to just let this guy grow through the season and maybe the next. I like the idea you put there Ed. Maybe I'll use that in a couple years.
Thanks all,
