1. No one speaks for me other than myself when it comes to politics.

2. It is not hypocritical to claim that regulation is too tight generally and simultaneously be in favor of specific regulations.

3. Perhaps it is possible to kill two birds with one stone here. Congressmen and women upon being sworn in must individually decide whether they want to be able to continue to handle their investments as normal, or if they are open to being lobbied. Not both. I also like the concept of reporting measures @Forsoothe! mentioned.

4. Dont act like this is a Republican or Democrat thing... they may wear a different uniform, but they all sport the same underwear.

Of course anyone can be crooked or greedy or in the pockets of lobbyists or Wall Street. But as stated Obama and the Democrats put regulations on Wall Street and Trump immediately removed those regulations and filled his entire cabinet with Wall Street cronies. Ok they don’t “ work” for a big bank while in office but you don’t see anything wrong with this? Of course it’s a Democrat/Republican thing. Bernie has been talking about Wall Street being crooked and taking advantage of the of The People for a very long time. Republicans do just the opposite. Why would Kelly Loeffler reporting a stock sale matter if Her husband can do whatever he wants? And if not her husband then all they have to do is make a call to anyone of their friends?

There was an emergency staff meeting at my company yesterday. It's an Ag Co-op that also delivers liquid fuels i.e. propane, home heating oil gas and diesel fuel, so considered "essential". They are splitting staff at all of the locations. One group works, while the other half has to stay home for a week. Then they switch off. The doors to all locations are to remain locked, no customers permitted in any office. Getting scary here.

Gov. DeWine of Ohio announced that beginning Monday at 11:59PM that everyone is to avoid all non-critical movement for the next two weeks.
So between now and tomorrow at midnight it will be a clusterf**k at the stores.
Gonna wait for a few days 'til the panic subsides.
Hopefully they don't run out of adult beverages!! Priorities you know!!🥃🍺

We have taken similar precautions at my clinic. If someone is exposed to a confirmed infected individual, the state health department will likely make you self quarantine for 2 weeks. It's hard for a small business of 15 people to stay open if 10 of them are all out for 2 weeks minimum at the same time.

In a few hours Germany will also go into further lock-down.
Still allowed out on the street, but not with more than 2 persons at a time.
Cell phone companys have opened up their databanks to allow traing of phones.

Glad to live in a free country :(

Glad that you have work! It's more worrisome to not have essential work...

We’re heading for lockdown soon as well. The government is relying on people being responsible and community minded off their own backs, but the problem is people always know best. I have spoken to several people who “will be fine”, when they are either likely to be at risk themselves or worse still, are maintaining contact with vulnerable people by proxy, if not directly.

My step dad told me how a couple of people in his small office had a go at him and others when they approached their work stations because they were self isolating. It’s this stupidity, ignorance and lack of understanding that means the government will soon have to make decisions and implementations on our behalf.

I think we can all temporarily forgo a little freedom for the benefit of those at most risk.

At the Wal-mart nearest me they filled what used to be the toilet paper shelves with beer, not even kidding.

You're right. I wasn't complaining, just explaining my situation.

"Of course anyone can be crooked or greedy or in the pockets of lobbyists or Wall Street."

If anyone can be crooked, then dont act like only Republicans are.

Bernie has been talking about Wall Street being crooked and taking advantage of the of The People for a very long time.

Bernie also says that the government should essentially be responsible for making all of our decisions for us as far as health care, education, employment, how much income it is acceptable to make etc. Who is in charge of the government? All those who you previously aknowledged are capable of being crooked people.

Frederich Bastiat, the French counterpoint to the socialists during the French Revolution, noted that there is no such thing as an infallible state, because all state's are devised and controlled by humans, of which there has never lived a single infallible human.

As long as politicians arent doing something with their money, which I cant legally do myself, I dont care. So what if Trump relaxed regulations? Next president, next congress can tighten them again. But I dont see anyone who enjoys watching their 401k, mutual funds, IRAs etc. rise in value take umbrage with modest deregulation. (and at this point we arent talking about covid anymore).

Those looking to forward political agendas though complain about deregulation all the time but almost entirely from a perspective of fairness (ie. Bernie, Warren, DeBlasio, AOC...). Bernie's perspective on wealth and fairness is so firmly rooted in his Marxist upbringing that to say anything else would be an admission that his whole ontological understanding of the world is false.

Plus you dont think those looking to regulate the banking industry wont get some piece of the pie? Some kick back? Some under-the-radar money making opportunity? Thats foolish. Every single congressman and woman is making a buck where they can and 9 times out of 10, its on the cusp of being ethically questionable.

temporarily
it is this that I am worried about. How much are we now giving up that later will not be returned to us. cell-phone monitoring is now a reality in a country where it was a no-go area in the past. Will it be forbidden after this?

When is temporarily over? Nobody even ventures a guess under what conditions the bans are lifted.

Less than 1% death rate in Illinois of those tested positive. Revealed ages so far have been 70, 80+, 80+.

Maybe the self quarantine can be...ya know...a little more nuanced and selective, instead of the ghost town tumble weed situation.

That will be the next phase in a day or so. With more 45 minute diagnostic tests becoming available, and the Malaria/Lupus drug available for mitigation of the serious symtoms, us old and in the way folks can just hold up half way between the TV and refrigerator for the duration and you young people can get off your asses and get back out there to work producing beer and chips. And salami.

Be very carefull what you are suggesting there!
I made a similar post on the fakebook (Oh, and .. yeah.. on this forum I made a remark too which was not taken in a too balanced view) and the shit-storm that resulted was all but telling me I was solely responsible for 40K death people. Been hiding behind the blinds pretending not to be home, concerned that a white goverment van will pull up in front ;).
