This place called bonsaiplaza in the netherlands (or belgium?) has had them in the past. Send him an email to inquire about them, he might have some more.
Otherwise, maybe ask Leatherback if he wants to ship a few.
I know he is trying to build a stockpile of them, like I am. I only know that my stockpile is going to take a few more years, maybe he's further along.
Otherwise, maybe try some French stores; I saw a lot of French/Belgians selling shimpaku varieties at Noelanders: both kishu as well as itoigawa.
10 euros seems like a fair price for the cuttings I got from him, around 20cm tall with good roots and lots of low branches. Usually there's a branch or two with it's own roots too. I base that on the few I bought last year.
In comparison, there's a dutch plant store that sells 'var. Shimpaku' for 35 euros per cutting, excluding 10 euros for national shipping.
The germans and french might be cheaper, so it might pay off to google translate some pages. But since bonsaiplaza helped me a whole lot, I recommend him the most. Seems like a cool guy.
Sorry I never even thought about it I'm gonna have to do the contact us thing and ask them to remove it cause I can't edit, sorry again honestly just didn't think about that at all.Yeah that's the one. His name is Maarten.
He's the real deal and a lot of dutch forum users can vouch for him I believe. I don't know him personally, but some of them do. They pointed me in his direction.
I think it would be nice of you to edit your comment to obscure that address a little, so that he doesn't get spammed by crawlers that use publicly posted email addresses for a variety of nuisances. It's kind of an unwritten rule of most forums. This guy is just running a small business as far as I know. It would be a shame if he had to go through millions of viagra offers to find actual customer questions ;-)
Another thing to keep in mind, is the blaauws juniper. You can probably get those in Ireland as well. I personally think they have better foliage than itoigawa, but they grow a lot slower. Now that I have both, I really believe the Japanese varieties are a bit.. well.. dull. Itoigawa turns golden brown in winter, blaauws stays blueish green (glaucous?).
I prefer my conifers in one color throughout the seasons.
In just a few years I expect the blaauws to pop up in shows. I've already seen them mislabeled as kishu in some bonsai stores.
ill have to check out them websites and see if they deliver and hope they do cause they sound perfect thank youI bought some quite big plants of Shimpaku for 7.99EUR from this local shop:
https://www.fragaria.sk/product/sk/borievka-cinska-shimpaku-juniperus-chinensis-30-40-cm-kont-3l/
They have fantastic dense foliage, each of them 3 or 4 trunks of 40cm length. On their own roots AFAICT.
