Hey has anyone ever tried a Jap. Holly (I have researched the exact variety yet), for a Bonsai?
I just got out of class tonight and the teacher asked if anyone wanted a holly that was originally suppose to be planted on the grounds. Well for me ,,, Free is always good. ( I got a Black gum this way 2 weeks ago). So I'm going to give it a try.
I took a quick look at it and it seems there may be a possibility (it is night though have to see by the light of day). I do know that its dioecious, so ill have to get a male conterpart( this one does have the flower buds).
Thanks alot,
Sincerely,
KJ

I have a convexa that I bought when I didn't know any better. So far from what I can tell it doesn't grow at all. it might not even be a real tree.

I just got one don't remember exact name, wanted to try it for Shohin.
but I only had it for a couple of weeks, so don't have lots of experience yet

Well, after seeing it in the light,, (if it lives), I'm not still not exactly which or what kind of holly it is:confused:? But if it does survive, (looks like its been dessicated by the cold winds) I'll give it a try.
it doesn't have too bad of shape,,,, see what you think. Here a 4 different sides of it. Its no yamadori, but for free...
Thanks ,,
KJ
