The longer you wait the less viable. And if you bought them you don’t know how old they really are. The redwood seed should be smaller then the black pine. The black pine seeds are more round with a single point. You should post photo’s for help like this. I plant seeds in late fall in grow bags. They sprout in spring. I have never needed to stratify black pine but the growing season is almost over in most places.

Hi Thank you for your reply just to fill you in, I stratified the seeds but when I planted them out nothing grow so I tip them in to a bag of soil, then in the summer I was using the soil to plant out some conifers when I noticed seeds sprouting but I cannot remember which seeds are which, if I was able to put some photos would you be able to tell me if they are black pines.

If stored cool and dry in a refrigerator, Japanese black pine seed can remain above 50% viable for about 10 years. Stored dry in a paper envelope at normal room temperature on your dresser or desk, the black pine seeds will drop below 50% viable in less than 3 years, possibly as little as 18 months. Stored on the dashboard of your car, the seed might not last 2 weeks. I'm not familiar with durability of redwood seeds.

The "collective BNut group" has a number of members who have raised many different pines from seed and the different redwoods too. We might also identify "weed species". So pictures are worth a thousand words. However, if you wait for the first "true leaves" to form, identification can be even more definitive. Usually the second set of leaves formed after the seedling sprouts is the first "true leaves".

Should be able to tell the difference between pine and redwood seedlings. Post some pics please.
Also a good idea update your personal profile with a location as advice can be quite different from one area to another.

These need some growing. I am attaching a link to a page of excellent bonsai related articles that I found helpful when I was new to the hobby.
There are two articles about black pines, these are Japanese black pines, just like yours. Please read them, they will tell you how to get started with turning your seedlings into bonsai.
