Japanese Cedar...branch up or down?

Hello everyone! New to the site so I hope this is the right place to ask... I had bought this Japanese Cedar about 8 years ago, and it was about 8-10 years old when I got it as well. I’ve done some training during this time but nothing major until this weekend. It needed repotting as I’d let it get pretty unruly lately.

So I decided to trim, wire and repot this poor root bound thing. It went fairly well but I’m unsure of one branch’s positioning and was looking for some advice. After I trimmed but before I wired it, the lower left branch of the main tree had an upward growth to it and to me felt like the upward movement worked since the smaller tree had a downward lean and feel to it. Kindve like the left side was competing with other trees on a mountain and the little one was reaching off the cliff side. However, I know that lower older branches are supposed to droop downward so I’m stuck. Do I do what the rules say or what looks/seems better. I could go either way but I’m interested to see what other enthusiast think. So what do you guys think...lower left branch up or down? Thanks!
