This quince starts having another episode of blooming.
It was on 5/15/18


Yesterday


You may notice that the new flowers will have same pattern as the previous ones.
Top will have red flowers


The inferior aspect of the upper third will have white flowers


The middle one will have red flowers

I made 30 cuttings this morning. They are semi hard cuttings.
I use the croissant container. I made multiple small holes in the bottom of the container for drainage.
I use pumice: mini pine bark with 1:1 ratio


Nichi-Getsu-Sei quince branches are waiting for cutting.


Most of cutting have 3 nodes. I have to dip them into root hormone powder and put them into the soil in slanting position


Water them with fine rose water container


Cover the lid and place it in the filter sunlight place. Now, wait and see !

I have had 100% failure (2 attempts out of 2) with hard wood cuttings of Chaenomeles.

I think the humidity is the most importance! The season is also a factor. With hard wood cutting, the spring time is the best.

A week later, these cuttings are still green even though it is really hot and dry in my area. It is a good sign. I open the lid when the misty system is on for 2 purposes:
1- Let the mist come inside to resupply the needed humidity.
2- To refresh the stagnant air inside the container.
I hope it makes sense.
