Still, my fav is half a petal is red, half white (and not every petal).

Me neither, but I don't think it's my area, I think it's just me. :(
You may talk to someone in your area to see what the problem is! Satsuki actually like humidity and cool place. In my area,there was a Japanese man who had more than 50 kinds of satsuki bonsai in his garden. It was so impressed when I visited him about 6-7 years ago. Full of flowers!!! He placed his bonsai under the nursery shaded net with really big koi pond go around the back and side yard!
