image.jpeg Found these little white things on the underside of Maple leaf. Any idea what they are and best way to treat?

I would begin by squishing them with my fingers and/or blowing them away with a jet of water from a garden hose. If you cannot keep up with the appearance of more and more, then I would plan to spraying with a suitable pesticide. NEEM is my first choice for everything BUT acers - NEEM reputed to have adverse effects on the acer palmatum on acer shirasawanum.

I think what they are, should come before smashing, casin you get an infestation of something bad, cuz you killed all your defenders....

I killed a lacewing egg once....
And cut off branches with katydid eggs I thought were scale...

Can't forgive myself still.

Knowing may be half a battle that doesn't need to occur.

at first I suspected that they were whitefly but the more I look at the lifecycle of the whitefly it doesn't really look like these. In fact might be thrips???
