On impulse, I just ordered a bunch of Japanese maple seeds. I have some very limited experience stratifying seeds from my first bonsai go-round many years ago, but that was with pines. If I roll the dice and try to germinate as many as I can this year (wit, what would you recommend in terms of potting media and method (soak first, etc.)?

Thanks in advance for any and all advice and/or comments.

Cheers,
Paul

well from what I know about maples you most likely are going to need to stratify them for 2/3 months before sowing them and unless you are planing on planting them in the ground you can pretty much do this at anytime as long as you have enough space to place the seed trays :)
I've sowed a tray of maples about a week ago and some of them are already germinating
