Japanese maple thread graft

Here is a Japanese maple I collected in 2017 from my grandmothers property. Last year I thread grafted 2 new branches into a straight section of the tree. The top thread has grown vigorously and a strong callus can be seen. Here are a few shots from last year and few more from yesterday

Thank you, the top one I may do this year. The lower one still needs to develop so that will likely be next year
