JBP - He has been wiring needles and candles !

Nigel Saunders stated in this video below that "this is a very well kept secret in the bonsai world" and after some blah blah blah proceeds to wire the needles of a JBP in pairs, with titanium wires.
Well, besides being doubtful/skeptical about the secrecy of this "technique" - never having heard it before - the purpose of doing it escapes my comprehension.
Please tell me if I have been inside a dark cave all those years?

Are you not aware that it was posted on April Fools Day? He also showed his pine—Pinus artificialis—a plastic pine bonsai he has been developing for several years.

I have never seen someone wire the needles on a pine but then I am guilty of Pine just not being something I have much knowledge on. Pine do not like me so I don’t grow them .
Gotta say I am also unclear on what the purpose is but I have to admit the more I see Nigel’s videos the more I want to prune his hair!

edit: I skipped right to the wiring so missed that fantastic plastic!

He always looks like that. He used to have a real 9-5 job and looked quite conventional but he quit that and earns enough doing YouTube videos to support himself and family, although I think his wife does have a paper route.

Haha yes he also did it the last year with the plastic pine very funny. Idk in Brazil here in Spain the equivalent of April fools is El Dia de los Santos Inocentes the 28 of December
