Hi,
I have never made root over rock before and recently developed an interest...
Attaching a picture of a volcanic rock I found on a weekend trip and have some questions about it and about ROR in general.
first of all, what do you think about the rock? is it suitable for JBP? I can vision it as a very nice trunk replacement... saves me a decade or so :)
I have 1 year old seedlings I can use. when is an ideal time to use them and how large should they be?
What is the best method to attach JBP roots to the rock?
Thanks!
Shay

That's a pretty nice rock.

Worthy of digging as many seedlings as you can till you find the right one.

I am convinced it takes four hands to make a nice ROR.

http://www.bonsainut.com/threads/ror-jbp-project.20138/ that might help... mine died (someone else was taking care of it the first weeks, that might have been the problem or may have been the root work, we will never know).
As Eric says on that thread, do the planing ahead. Pines from seed are all about planification.
