I have a large group like these from last year. It really slows them down but they grow like hell in year 2, this was cut 3 times. I did about 500 like this. Most of the crop I just cut twice

These are the standard crop twice cut. Potted them in January in a warm greenhouse. They are growing really strong. John Kirby is teaching me how to keep up with the California guys through false spring in January. I just put these outside a few days ago

Are you going to wire any this year? Or just let them shoot up?

I don't think people appreciate how much work it is to cut 500 black pine seedlings 3 times and pot them all up!

I’ll bet if any of you all lived close enough you would be over here helping me. The enjoyment is in the doing

From the growth that I’ve seen here from southern Texas and along the Gulf Coast, Cali doesn’t have any advantages! We apparently hit “May Grey” this week and into “June Gloom” along the coast.

Your nebari is 10x better than any that I have seen on mine. I will go take some photos today of how I am progressing. Mine are growing like mad and I am starting to get worried about the next stage.

You gotta put it like that. That’s not natural

What kind of soil mix are you using there? Looks like a good bit of pearlite and pretty fine. My soil is so coarse that my roots look nothing like that.
