I have just negotiated a deal to purchase a small Jim Smith ficus in a Jim Smith pot. She is holding it for me until the weather is warmer but I am thrilled. I cannot believe my good fortune. The pot is 7 inches.026FBB62-2349-4917-B13A-2B5D8A114A5A.jpeg

Of all the trees I have purchased this is the one that will have me going to the Iowa Bonsai Association for assistance. I will want to keep it styled as intended by the creator.

Very nice! I seen that one. Loved it at first site. So glad one who understands the species is its new owner.
I am very humbled that I was allowed to purchase it. I will likely give her a big bear hug if I ever meet her in person. By force if necessary. Lol.

I have purchased my first stand . I don’t have this tree yet but it would be a good size match. I’m not certain the pot color would go well with a stand this color. In the summer new growth can be very red so I think at that time it may work.
I have never matched a tree and a stand before but I know I want several options to choose from.CA9E42D9-B738-4FE4-8CC3-A2F6D34E2EE5.jpeg

That 2nd stand is definitely better than the first for this tree and pot.

Cool tree. Glad you got it.
The second stand is truly amazingly crafted.
Apparently he was a furniture maker who got talked into making a few bonsai stands. He did very well.

Well we will see what I can do with this one.
I see a lot of straight trunks in there.
