If you've been around this forum for awhile, you may remember that each year I lead a two day bonsai seminar at the middle school where I teach. On day one we discuss the history, the styles and the care of bonsai (all in ninety minues!). This year I also brought some of my trees and let them trim them. On day two, George Muranaka of Muranaka Bonsai Nursery joins us and the students style their own juniper. This year I had more trouble finding procumbens than I have ever had before.

If any of these students stick with it they will be true artists by the time they're thirt,y and when I die I can leave all my trees to them! Here are some photos from day one:

I wondered how George trimmed all his trees :)

This is great! I love to see kids interested in bonsai at an early age!

What subjects do you teach? This is a really good idea and your students are fortunate to have such a good teacher!

I love seeing these postings Barry!
Way to go...

I have a hard time locateing procumbens for several years now and since they are such good material for bonsai I have just started growing them from cuttings. Last year was the first batch an all seem to have taken, twelve in all. I will be training them upright.

Keep up the good work with your students...

This is great to see. This is the small stone that starts the avalanche....

But really they are all so serious! (do you threaten beatings, if they don't clip correctly???) (just a joke - )
