is it ok to do hard pruning on Junipers at this time. I have a new Juniper that I purchased at House of bonsai in California. Some how I have been having problems with Junipers growing in Las Vegas.

I've been taught that hard pruning junipers is best done in spring, but only if you aren't also repotting. Light pruning can be done in autumn, but only if you haven't repotted in the previous spring.

It would be best to wait until it cools down a bit later in fall. But the real question is what problems are you having growing junipers?

it was just being not familiar with the species and considering living here in Las Vegas. Wrong choice of soil and not misting it I guess. Thanks.

I've done hard work in the middle of winter. Like sawing trees vertically in half hard work.
They lived with zero aftercare.
Junipers can be tough if you know what breaks them and steer away from that.
Hard pruning in winter can be done if you don't touch the roots.
But the safest would be another season than fall.
