Just trying to figure out how to create the apex for this juniper cascade. Should it act like a counter balance to the trailing branch? Or should it look like it could go over the side any minute? Or should I go in another direction. Thanks for your input!

I can’t claim to know much but I think the most critical aspect of creating and/or possessing a solid cascade style tree is that the portion of the trunk or the main branch(es) that cascade need to cascade at an angle that is acute to the angle of the trunk coming out of the ground. Once that is created then you can go about placing all of your structural wiring off of this angled cascade form.

Why does this need to be forced into a stereotypical cascade? Maybe there is an option that suits this trunk better?
Granted this is a really small P nana, but what about tilting it:

Then jinning that cascading branch and show the interesting trunk line.

I believe I will be going in another direction. Thanks for the picture. A vision of what the tree could be is another weakness of mine. Appreciate the feedback! Will give it a go and post some results.

Great positive thread without the sarcastic bs. Love it. And actually learned a bit about visualizing tree structure. Thanks.

Whichever direction you decide to take it I'd put the shears to one side for a few seasons for it to thicken & get stronger. Some wire to establish movement would be a good idea.

It will give you an opportunity to focus on something ready for more radical styling
