Hello all,

Ive had this juniper for about a year just growing.
Just wanted to ask what those more experienced than I would do, and give me any advice or recommendations.

Pictures attached

Thank you,

Sorry in advanced if pics are rotated

Very hard to give advice because we can't see the trunk structure or branching.

From what I can tell it has good movement.

I would examine the tree and consider the flow of the trunk and branches and think about design that uses that flow in a way that seems natural and makes sense.

Think about how you can cut back some of those long branches a bit to keep the foliage closer to the trunk. If you want more foliage to develop closer to the trunk on a branch, always leave some foliage. If you remove all the foliage, the branch will die. Also thin out sports coming in between/inside branches. Consider any branches you dont want foliage for possible jins.

I would not remove more than about 25% of the foliage to start. Go slow. Take your time, reevaluate and remember once you cut, you can't take it back.

Might be a good idea to take this tree to a workshop and get advice ftom someone more experienced than yourself.

Looks like great material. Agree with above assessment.

Seems a bit weak with some mature scale and some junevile foliage. Might want to really focus on getting it vigorous and healthy / check for pests this spring.

Good stuff.
