Hello,

I am having confusions with identifying the species of junipers. The photos attached are all different trees. They all look same to me, and I am considering them all as Juniperus sabina. However some friend says some are shimpakus. Please help me to identify them.

Thanks in advance.

Knowing the species isn't going to change how they react to your care.

You are better off observing them and working accordingly, than to treat them one way or another because of text.

Where in the world are you? Sabina suggests Europe.

It will not change my love for them. I just want to know, that's it.

It will be impossible to tell from these photos, due to the differences in the photos themselves, and a lack of reference point.

1-4 look similar, 4 could be Shimpaku.
5-6 appear to be similar.
7 looks like something different altogether.

Sabina is popular/common in Europe, but I don’t have any experience with identifying them. If any is a Shimpaku, my guess is #4. Regardless, they can all be treated the same.

Is there any book or source that I can use to identify the species for junipers (and pines too)?
