I’ve been watching all you fancy people showing off fancy names of trees, and I’ve been trying to track down a Shimpaku juniper for as long as I can remember. Problem is Shimpaku doesn’t translate well into Chinese because it’s a Japanese word and I don’t know how to write those characters.
However, I found this on an online store and was wondering if I actually found one. Anybody able to give me a specific ID please?

Then I saw which hardiness zone it’s coming from, let’s see how it goes

Shimpaku is Japanese slang equivalent for “the real McCoy”! It’s a Chinese Juniper. “Kishu”, “Itoigawa”, are areas of Japan where the particular strain was collected originally. They’re all Chinese Juniper. The foliage quality can vary from plant to plant, just as our native junipers do.

Most nursery junipers will have been started from cuttings of stock plants with good foliage quality.

@M. Frary thanks
And
@Adair M finally he speaks. Thanks. It clears up some confusion because I keep getting results from wiki that say juniperus chinensis ‘Shimpaku’ that I never understood. The more I wanna research japan, the more I get results saying China

I'm more like a fart.
Appearing in a cloud of stink and noise.
And lingers in your nostrils for hours.

Thnx you made me spil my coffee mike!
Now gotta wipe it up !

What do you mean by this?
Junipers are tough they handle cold very well and also love full sun, they do need the dormacy tough

i cant see what zone you are in your profile so cant say if your zone is doable

My tree came all the way from close to Beijing (zone 7 or whatever) and I’m down near Hong Kong (zone 10)
Will I have to put it in the fridge at night during winter?

If a fart comes out in a mist you got a problem.
They're more of a gas.

Youve gotta stop this lol now i was just taking a zip of my beer reading this
But i agree if the fart is a mist it sounds like heavy diarea and you gotta change pants after that

I dont know about that it depends on how cold does it get in winter in your location

It’s here, almost 6 days in transit and it finally arrived

I potted it according to the angle of the trunk, not sure if I shoulda followed the position of the branches instead. It’s just a pencil trunk, couldn’t find a ruler or a banana for scale. But I don’t have space for something much bigger anyways.

It has some leggy foliage at the top, but lower down it’s nice and dense-ish

I used cotton buds to spread the branches out a bit to see what I’m dealing with. I have to decide some sort of style or shape for this tree. I’m googling every spare second to find a good design idea.
Yes it’s inside, because it’s 8pm and there’s no more light to see what I’m doing outside
Here’s a quick 360 for all y’all to help me think

It’s standing on a narrow ledge with safety railings in the way, so it would be better to reduce it.
