This is how it started in the last millennium.
Very poor material indeed, but I didn't knew it better that days ...

The tree of 1996 when I bought it from a nursery.
This particular species of Juniperus (J. Chinensis media blaauwi) is growing very, very slow.
Therefore I am posting here the stages of huge time-leaps ...

The middle trunc died and now they were twins.

About seven years ago.

About three years ago ...

The tree as of today, with a chage of viewing-side and angle.

Lat picture is a "repotted" and slighly optimized virtual ...

So what caused the centre eye sore to die? Whatever it was, it certainly fixed the initial thoughts on this as a bonsai.
I think you've done quite well with this. I liked the shari side as the front better, also showing the cavity of the lost central trunk.

3rd branch on the now left, main trunk, what happened to the inner foliage on that and its' adjacent branch?

Hm, Japonicus.
The inner foliage had not been really good so far.
Neither on the mentioned branch nore anywhere else.
Nothing special happened, just maintaining-mistakes.
I am about to improve those weak spots in future ...

Well I cant believe this thread has gone this long with no comments or praise.
The said branches appeared to have better foliage inside on the pic from 3 years ago.
Your diligence is obvious :) '96 was just before I started dabbling in the hobby.

I like it too and Blauuws is great to work with. The only way to get inner backbudding is to get it to the way it was 7 years ago - lots of long runners. Junipers are very much like hermits - they just want to be left alone.

You are right Paul (?), let them in peace and grow ...
However, I am working of a special kind of feeding regime to promote inner grows.
I will report in case of succes ...

Please do - I have a lot of Blauuws knocking around that would benefit.

How about Defra's idea but with more height to the tall one?
Let it carry the load with the smaller one accenting it?

Oops, I see what I thought was a toppy branch on the little one was a droop from above.

Very well done! An inspiration to anyone aspiring to work with juniper. Look kids! 25yrs! Dedication, persistence, consistency. It just reeks with it!
