Just a quick question. I bought my first 2 azaleas this year, both evergreen variety. I plan to leave to thicken and so are both in huge plastic pots. (About a foot tall presently) I took all bar a few flowers/buds off this time as I prefer they grow than flower for now, but wanted to see a few flowers for colour and such.

When is the best time for me to hard prune them in a bid to produce some back budding etc please? I am guessing it wont be for some time? Any advice welcomed, thank you......

Kim.

Hey Kim,

Since it'll back bud almost without question when you have it your size, I wouldn't worry bout trimming it yet.

I actually left mine for that very reason. No need to remove the bar branches that won't effect your design either. Keep it strong.

Just my 2. Pics?

If flowering is not an issue, you can prune azalea at any time of the year.
