Just randomly stumbled on this oddball pot making video, it uses a mix of wheel and a template to cut out the form. It was rather interesting. I've been learning about pot making over the last year or so and have not seen anything like this yet.

I dont know anything about making pots, but the sheer engineering from that kind of blow my mind.

Oy! That is a hell of a lot of engineering for a pot that I could whip out in an 1/8 of the time. And they’re so friggin’ small. I am thinking they are cement too, not clay. I’ve never seen anyone use a compacted sand form to support slip.

You can use all kinds of templates for production wheel throwing, so that isn’t uncommon, especially if you are trying to make a matching set. But rarely is it done on a CD rom drive.

It looks like he uses cement grout of varying consistencies?
