In Maryland the maples are out but zelcova and hornbeams are just opening this weekend. And for the 2nd night in a row the temps are predicted in the LOW 30s F. Here we go again! My landscape wisteria is pushing blooms right now. Last year the buds were ready to explode and a freeze happened.
Wow! The difference between western Mass. and Western NC.: I just completely defoliated my trident maple for the first time. I'll probably do it again in late July.
I have both landscape and containerized wisteria. I leave the container plant out all winter, and because of the size (10? gallon with potting soil) I dont even mulch it like I do with most of my other trees. Pretty hardy stuff, wisteria. I have not, however, planted any from seed, so I dont know how that goes. With how tough they are in general, I would think a plant that has grown for a full spring/summer/fall should be fine outdoors in the winter. I swear my landscape tree grows an inch per day ;0)Do you leave your wisteria out all year? I just got some seeds and saw mixed information about this. Also, if you know, when is a good time to plant them. Any information you can provide would be great.
