Tidal Bonsai
Omono
I purchased this seedling as a Carpinus Coreana, but the leaves look more like Carpinus Turczaninowii to me. Any ideas?
Kill the miserable dishonest seller!
all the botanical references I've read say NO Difference between C. coreana and C. turczaninowii.
I believe this is natural variation between individual seedlings and possibly some biogeographical variation depending on where seed was collected.
There is no real difference between Korean hornbeam and turczaninowii. It's the same tree. It's known by a few names, including "Rock Hornbeam."I tried to help my friend in bonsai circle to propagate CARPINUS COREANA from very old seeds he had been trying for long time.
I simply put them in compost outside and let nature do its job.
Here are the results
PS: I do not know if they are really Carpinus coreana as I am completely relying on my friend, he said some friend got him from Korea years ago. He is insisting it is not Carpinus turczaninowii.
Time will tell once they grow up;
Can somebody please tell me the difference in leaves between Turczaninowii and Coreana ? What I heard is Coreana has small leaves compared to Turczaninowii and also Coreana has got shorter internodes.
@cmeg1 : Hi Curtis, any thoughts?
