Here is a kifu-sized red chojubai that I got this summer.

The tree was imported to the US many years ago, back when you could do that, and was in the collection of a good friend. I helped my friend with a bunch of work over the summer, and he gifted me this tree in August. I was very honored to become its next caretaker, and will treasure this old little tree all my life.

It's an old little tree, and had quite a bit of age when it was imported many years ago. The first two pictures are from August when I received the tree, and the last two are before and after fall maintenance work in November.

Cheers!

The mesh was added with the previous owner had a pot break, and had to repot it into something quickly. He didn't want to do any root work, so he slipped it into this pot and used the mesh to build up the soil level to what he needed.

This tree will be repotted this February. I'm currently scrambling to find an old japanese or antique chinese pot for it. Since the tree has a lot of age, it would be strange to repot it into something new and shiny.
