When you have the ball mill, up and running.
I will pass on the rest of the information.

Hint, if you open your clay bodies with particles made from the
clay [ already fired ] the temperature stays the same.
Read a bit, try a few firings.
I will be here.

By the way you are learning how to do - fine pottery / fine wares.
And Bonsai pots that are rectangles and squares, not trying
to convince everyone that they want wheel thrown circles or
circles altered to ovals.

Fine Wares.
Good Day,
Anthony

I think BVF said he doesn't like wheel thrown altered ovals.
Someone did....so I'll never do it!

Doubt I'll ever throw on a wheel either. Well....

My line of circles will be called Sorcerounds.

So......

Let me show you that Oval I did for Vance!

It should fire to a dark brown/grey hint, a bit smaller than the requested size, but I got faith in Vance and his mugo technique! Plus, I'm making him a Sorceround too!

Making a pot for everyone on this list above JKL.
A little time for someone to get up there!
you'se wondering what those titles do for you!

Sorce,

try this - to make rounds see image below.

To get the size of pot ordered do this ---------- take clay and roll out to
6 inches long and say 1/2 inch thick.
Dry well - measure again.
Fire sample to temperature you want to use - measure again.

Now you factor that information into your clay body. So you have
drying shrinkage and firing shrinkage.

Every time you change the mix of the clay body, you have to recalculate.
Good Day

******** Remember ---------- It must please the eye *************

When you do Fine Wares - you don't need a potter's wheel use this -
a banding wheel.
Get a heavy duty -------- make or garage sale -whatever.

Coil building. Hand building
Fine wares bring in more $$$$$$$$$$

You too!

I think about you everytime I'm wedging!

I never realized how many different increments of wet I can get my finger.

What kind of kiln did you or are you getting?

@Stickroot how much propane do you use for a gas fire?
Cone 10?

Sorce
It costs me $68 to fire my big gas kiln at cone10. It's 30" inside diameter X 40" deep, 6 burner and pilot ring.
The more shelves you use the longer your burn time and more electric or fuel needed.

Hmm Stickroot it costs, 25 US $ to fire ours. Same size as yours.
But we are only going to cone 08 and the work is glazed and vitreous.
Or just vitreous.

Look up what the Chinese do, it you wish to lower your costs.
Good Day

I love it, let's talk about getting my hands on the pot. I will demonstrate and video putting the tree in it.

You know you can count me in for some of your work! Really digging the accent pots and I'd like a couple of your larger ones as well. Let me know when you fire and I'll be all in.

I've actually thought about getting a kiln and trying to make some pots, even looked at a few used ones - but decided I really don't have the time right now. But I'll be keeping an eye on your progress. Good luck!

Just playing...and storing things till you can borrow kiln space is a very feasible idea.

My daughter is into ceramics and I looked into purchasing a moderate-sized kiln. For a kiln a little smaller than your dimensions I was coming up with almost the size price - about $60 - $70.
