Hello i am Charlotte and i have been interested in Bonsai for about 6 years but did not get my first tree until about 3 years ago. I had to leave it with my mother and father for the last 2 years because i could not have it where i lived until now. i should be getting it back this month or next month.

My tree is a Chinese elm and its about 6-8 years old im not 100% sure on the age.

Some time ago my moms cat knocked it over and broke the pot it was in. my mother repoted it in a normal flower pot and its been in that for almost 2 years. I know i will have to wait until next winter to cut back the roots and re pot it. i guess my main question is would it be ok to leave it in the pot its in and just feed it and hope it will be OK until i get it repoted.. the poor thing needs trimmed really bad as well.

PS. i meant to put kinda new. sorry about that.

Welcome Charlotte. I'm sure many of our resident aficionados will provide some excellent advice. However, you should do something to help them. Please go to your profile and enter where you are located, something fairly specific not just a state. Care of our trees is dependent upon the species and the specific (micro) climate that we live in. Welcome and good luck.

Charlotte, Chinese Elms are tough little buggers. Its been 2 years since your mother repotted it so if you want to repot it would not hurt it. You can trim them any time too. I mess with mine all the time . :)
