Any chance anyone here knows where I might be able to find a Kinu No Mai Satsuki Azalea in the US? I have checked the typical go-tos for satsukis (Nuccio's, Riverbend, etc.) but haven't had any luck. Kinu No Mai definitely seems to be one of the rarer cultivars.

You might try to contact some of the people who still import from Japan. It is not uncommon among the plans the Japanese growers export to Europe.
You are right though that right now it is not very available. But it is not a niche cultivar at all, so given time, it may appear in the US.
One will just have to wait until it gets more available in the US.
I don't have it myself, though.

It is quite nice and probably the best variegated double flower satsuki.

Had to look the flower up, it's very nice! Good luck with your search.

BTW, you can try the American non-Satsuki variety 'Barbara Tozzi' for a somewhat similar double flower. But more doubtful to be used as bonsai, though.
Very rarely, it will also have some variegation.
Not sure thought if it is easy to obtain in Cali. I believe White's Nursery sells it, but they don't do mail orders.
