A maple I bought about two years ago at Danny's place. It was labeled Kiyohime and wasn't anything special, but at that time it was the first Kiyohime I came across and was reasonably priced so I decided to give it a new home.
However when I compare the leaves and branch structure to my other Kiyohime's or Kashima now, it looks much more similar to a Kashima so I'm in doubt.

During the summer it had a little accident and the pot broke so I transferred it to a plastic grow container knowing I'd repot it in a couple of months.

As I didn't know it would leaf out so early it took me by surprise and I missed the chance to repot.
It didn't do bad in the bigger plastic box and the trunk thickened a little, but I was concerned about the roots.
Nothing to do but to enjoy the spring.

Murasaki Kiyohime. Funny one side looks different from other. Not sure why yet. But it'll look the same rest of year. 😄

I got confirmation from the nursery.. Both are Kashima's. The smaller one would be approx 7 years old, the big one would be around 16 years old.

Did you mean Danny Use? If so, can I please ask what he charges for these?

I have been working hard on the paperwork to be able to purchase Beni Chidori and Seigen maples from him.

Thank you!

Yes, it's were I follow workshop's and buy most of my material.

It depends on the timing and what they have done with it.
For the smaller one I payed €125 and for the big one it was €195 (but that was a steal).
I've been keeping my eye out for a nice Seigen, but no luck up to now.

Goodluck with the paperwork! He has some awesome trees!
I don't think he sells online or ships trees?
Btw; is that you Derek?

I find that Seigen is rare overall. I got one last summer from a maples grower in the Netherlands. But what arived did not look like the seigens I know. I am now waiting for it to leaf out in spring to tell whether it has this spoft pik tone to the your foliage. (If not, it is off to the shredder / garden / ...)

I know right :(
Currently I have one very small seigen I found on ebay last year, but it's grafted and small... plan is to try ground layer it coming spring.
I'm also still not 100% sure it is in fact a Seigen looking at the spring leaf color...

I found one at the Trophy a few weeks ago, but I didn't like it nor the price (think it was 800 or so) 😅

edit; I know there's one at Danny's place, but it doesn't fit my budget
