Has anyone ever worked with David Knittle from Knittle Studios? I have not seen his stands in person, but from the pictures i've seen i'm very impressed! I attached a couple of my favorites, likely going to have him make one for one of my Sierra Junipers. Would love to hear what you guys think.

You're no fool!

Nice!

The thin one looks too thin, and the thin Slots, while great, are too digital for that tree.

IMO.

Does the craftsmanship match yours!?

Bloody hell well!

Beautiful!

Yes. I worked with David last summer to make a display table for a JBP. I’ve seen several of his stands in person, and the craftsmanship and attention to subtle detail is outstanding. I had some ideas in mind for the table that we bounced back and forth by email. I sent him some pix and dimensions of the tree and my thoughts on LxWxH of the table...on which we concurred. Then we discussed wood species, stain, legs, and stretchers.

I had a design element in mind that could work perfectly, or could just miss since he didn’t have the potted tree in front of him. I didn’t want to get so specific on the element that he couldn’t be creative, but I definitely had something in mind. We finished that conversation, and then I didn’t hear from him for like 4 months.

When he contacted me in January for a shipping address, I was out of town and he was a little cryptic...”I will send you some pix of the build after you have a chance to see the table in person.”

Long story short, David knocked it out of the park and down the street. He accomplished the element in a way that I could have never anticipated, that was completely unexpected, but absolutely hit the mark. I can’t wait to debut it in September.

I have a stand from a maker out your way for about the same money, which is nice, but David’s finish is like fine furniture; smooth, shiny, rich, and perfect. His tables have a very special presence.

Great builder and one of the old guard. I've known David for years. We talk stands every year at the convention or even this year at the shohin seminar last month in Feb.

Really glad to hear BVF! There's only so much you can tell from pictures without seeing it in person. But, from what I can tell from pictures his work looks phenomenal! Appreciate the info on the process of your collaboration, thank you!

Not recently. Just have no time. My benches in the backyard have suffered some real damage from moisture with SS screws rusting....go figure. I have to rebuild my entire structure but can't get past this incessant rain coming every three days. That and romancing my new Fiance, I have no time. I have not given up and I will get back to it soon. I have some plans in the works and really wish to get started on them....who knows...
