Korean Hornbeam help!

Could someone tell me what's going on here? I can't tell if this is a fungus issue or just possibly old leaves. I live in N.C 7b

I'm in the other hemisphere to you, so consider my advice as near useless. But looks like a blend of sunburn, insect attack (thrips?) and mechanical damage (wind). I have a couple of KH's and they don't like the wind much or too much summer sun, nor do they like salts, though seem hardier that Japanese maples in my backyard.
