Got this Korean Hornbeam from Meehan's a year or so ago and let it ground grow. Dug it up last night and noticed some horrible gigantic twisted roots that I began some correction on. Not sure if I even like the base at all, may considering girdling it to restart a new root base. Nonetheless i think she's got some potential once I choose a few spots to air layer and take off most of the crazy top growth and get some direction going.

Popped it in this pond basket to recover and well see how well it recovers.

substantial trunk and lots of branching to work with, roots gonna need some correcting, otherwise good material.
