I've been searching and cannot find any bonsai out of Lacey Oak. Anyone know a particular reason why?

It looks promising based on what I see. I like the leaves specially.

Dario, I have never heard of this so I looked it up. Seems it a Texas native tree, this is an interesting 1 page article about it. http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/cemap/oaklacey/lacey.html It seems to have a lot of attributes that would make it suitable for Bonsai cultivation. It didn't mention teh growth rate though.

Thanks Ed. I've read it is slower than Live Oak and the ones I saw in the nursery have bigger leaves BUT seem like they reduce well also (there are lots of small leaves--1.5" on a landscape tree). It is also a smaller tree than Live Oak. Maybe worth a shot.

I know it backbuds when chopped but I need to know if it tolerates repot.
