I was recently gifted this 15-17 year old jade and it is in desperate need of some work. I am new to bonsai and am a bit reluctant in how to proceed. I know it has to go into a new pot as it has been in the same one for the last 8 years, along the same wall. Any advice would be most welcome.

Pretty much, I was thinking about tying them back or adjusting the angle of it when I repot.

Brian, there is a ton of information on the net that will help you with your task. I HIGHLY recommend that you read about 5 different sites about styling and re-potting. It isn't difficult and these are really forgiving, but there are some things that you must know going forward... have a pencil and a piece of paper at hand, and make notes as you go along.

Very interesting material there, you could invent a new style with something like that!

AND, keep trimmings to propagate more trees from... be especially cognizant of what to do with trimmings to propagate these plants.
