Hey Will,
It's great to see more variety in Bonsai tree culture. Not that I don't like a Chinese Juniper or Jap Maple, I hope you will keep us posted on the results. I'm going to try to do a little air-layering with some of the native trees to the zone5a area. A locust will probably be in order.

noticing the post

I am trunk chopping a sango kaku that was scheduled to be removed by chainsaw and chipper machine.. It has a 7 to 8 inch trunk you think this will survive the endeavor since you seem to have experience and i am new to the idea of this concept.
