Last years collected Lilac. Where to go from here?

I collected this Lilac tree from my garden last year in March, all of the branches that you can see grew over the last Summer.
What should my next steps be now?

Nice lilac! I love the smell of the flowers.

If it were mine, I would just fertilize heavily this year and focus on achieving vigorous growth. You said that all the branches are from last year and they don’t look super, super vigorous.

You could wire the branches now to get the correct angle emerging from the trunk, before they become too thick to move. Personally, I wouldn’t do much any pruning this year.
